Met Monday

Today we join Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphsis Monday. If you remember, my dining room started out looking like this before I vowed to live a more organized life. Even cleaned up the dining room still needed to be "beeutified".
So I changed the plates on the wall to blue spode and added a ginger jar with a plant in the corner.

Then I brought the toile bench from our bedroom in and placed it in the corner (Mr. B thinks I'm crazy).

I added a lamp and a platter onto of the china cabinet, which was brought in from another room. I still had boxed up a set of blue and white Mr. B bought me on a rainy camping weekend about 10 years ago.

Here's the final look. I'm still not sure if I like the bench in there, but decided to give it a few days to walk by and look at it.

The best thing about this room makeover is that it didn't cost a dime!
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a great week!

Nell Hill's Tablescapes

While I did not get to go visit Nell Hill's as planned, I did manage to find several tablescape photos online, courtesy of Nell Hills. I thought you might enjoy them as I did, they are truly Beeutiful by Design! Please visit Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for more great tablescapes.

Dining Room Dreaming

Recently I received an email from Horchow advertising the lovely dining room sets below on sale. While most of us consider a dining room suite a once in a lifetime purchase, it's still fun to "window shop" at the sets below. One thing I found interesting is to also look at the way they have stylized the dining rooms themselves. Many of these accessories could be purchased to update our own dining rooms. For example changing the pictures on your walls or changing the paint color itself. This blue set is my favorite, not sure if I like the bench, but I love the blue!
I think I like these windows better than I like the set itself.

A cozy corner set.

Did you notice the one thing all these pictures had in common? There was plant life (plants, fruits or flowers) in every dining room.
That is one tip I'm taking from these photos for my own dining room.
Check out my changes on Monday's Metamorphosis!

A Progressive Dinner

Today I'm featuring an upcoming progressive dinner to be held on Main Street in Taylorsville this Saturday. Profits are going to benefit the revitalization of Main Street, where the Red Scooter (my home base) is located. If you are in the Taylorsville area, please join in, as I'm sure a good time will be held by all!

Mums the Word

Mums the word for today's post as I join Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphasis Monday.
I got some major landscaping done this weekend thanks to Mr. and Master B's hard work!

Here's the pot on our back patio - ready for planting!

This is Master B hard at work preparing the bed for some mulch and mums.

Here's a circle bed between our drive way and back patio. I'm such a lucky girl, I placed the mums where I wanted them and the guys planted them for me!

After mulch and mums are planted! I hope to get some pumpkins and gourds to put into the bird bath.

There's no place like home

Well the trip to Kansas was unexpectedly postponed, but as Dorthy says in the Wizard of Oz, there's no place like home. Tomorrow there is a big football game here in Kentucky, UL vs. UK, in Lexington at noon. I featured today some items over at the booth I have honoring the game.

Pumpkin Parade

We join Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for another Tablescape Thursday. I've lined up the pumpkins this week, for a pumpkin parade on the porch (say that five times fast).
I have these two adorable lapkins or hand kitchen towels for fall at the booth so I borrowed them to hang on either chair.

Doesn't he make you smile?

I used the cake plate that matched the two pierced plates I layered in the place setting to give my big pumpkin ceramic some height. I love to use these pumpkin "bowls" in the fall for chili, stew, etc.

A bad shot of the layers.

From above a vision of color. I layered in the sky blue plate b/c it helped punch up the orange of the pumpkin.

The other towel/lapkin says it all - Happy Fall Y'all!

A Tour of Nell Hills

Online recently I found this great website Retail Superstars, which lists 25 of the best independent stores in America. Who was featured as one of the 25 but Ms. Mary Garrity! See below for pictures of Nell Hills found at this site.

It is T-minus two days to departure for our road trip to Kansas. Have you packed your bags?
