Bee Grateful

Today has been a really hectic day~
lots going on with work &
my three college classes are really in overload.
So I'm taking a little fireside break,
to relax a moment and
celebrate the blessings~
Moments of gratitude can wipe away
stress and anxiety as I reflect and bee grateful
I am grateful for many things ~
large blessing like family and friends~
and small gifts like fireside tea and
Christmas magazines.
Hope you are relaxing a little this November too!

Hoot Christmas Trends 2013

Hope you had a great Halloween!
We were sitting in the dark as
we lost power about 6:30 PM.
Now that we are in November
I am sure you have already noticed
plenty of Christmas already out in the stores.
Each year I try to do one new
project for the holidays
usually a special tree, or new decor item,
which blends in with all
of our favorites from years past.
I thought I would share a few of the trends
I'm seeing as I research what will
be my project for this year.
Natural elements have long been a staple around the holidays.
They are an economical way to decorate, especially if you have a bounty to draw
from in your backyard (or your neighbor's if they are generous).
This year the nature holiday theme
has focused on owls,
which have been trending all year
and other "woodsy" creatures
such as deer and squirells in
hot materials such as
mercury glass and natural fibers .
I'm sure you've seen these everywhere too,
these pictures are from Pottery Barn,
One Kings Lane and Pier 1, but
I've seen them at Horchow, Pier 1 and
World Market.
Will you be adding new elements to your
nature decor this year?

Fall Sunday Supper

Recently we had a nice Sunday supper at the house
so I thought I would share the table with you!
It combined a few of my favorite things:
blue and white, pumpkins and
vintage glassware and linens.
The glasses are mid century with a leaf
pattern on three sides.
The napkins are vintage damask linen,
which I love because they become so soft over time.
Nothing fancy for dinner, just some chili,
which was perfect for the frosty fall evening.
We used the baby pumpkins for our chili
and the small side dish bowls for crackers and cheese.
Around our house there is a chili debate
do you include noodles or not?
beans or no beans?
Until I got married I never heard of noodles in chili~
and he had never heard of beans!
Whatever way you fix it -hope you enjoy a cup of
chili with some friends this fall!
Thanks for visiting!

Pumpkin Patch

One of the delights of living out in the country,
is getting to really see the seasons change throughout the year.
We have several pumpkin patches in the area

that setup road side stands during the fall.

This one is my favorite, as I pass it each day
to and from work.
They take particular care
to decorate their "patch"
with adorable scarecrows
to welcome you!

Thank you Morrow family for providing enjoyment to all!

Holiday Inspiration MC Style

I've been looking around for some holiday inspiration for my black and white porch.
While internet window shopping at Horchow
I saw the holiday line of
MacKenzie Childs, which I thought you might enjoy too.
I am in love with the mix of black & white
they are famous for which seemingly
mixes with every holiday & season.
I realize their price point is way above
a lot of people's budgets,
mine included, however
it's nice to look and draw inspiration.

Lots of plaids this year with evergreens.

Gold details mixed in with black & white
make these votives adorable!
They offer a paper products line
if you are interested in the look
but not able to afford and/or store
ceramics from their line.

Booutiful Tea Time

Decorating the porch for Halloween has been such fun~
Now it's time to sit a spell and enjoy the weather.

Won't you grab a cup of booutiful tea and join me?
I can't seem to get enough of these carnival glass
tea cups using them this summer on the buffet in seashells
then again with butterflies for early fall.

I think they look so cute filled with black candies
and a ghost Peep.
The wonderful flowers are what I get
when I send my husband to the grocery store
not bad huh?
Look closely there seems to be a spider come over from
No wait he's a different species,
the jewelry kind,
who typically is found on my lapel
during this time of the year.
