Touches of Green

Thought I would post a few ideas I've gathered for my

St. Patrick's Day tablescape.

The picture above is from Martha Stewart online

and is a cute way to use those carnations found

in your grocers floral department this week.
Above is another easy example of a centerpiece.

How about some parsley arranged with this cute lamb?

Or some green peppers fashioned as clover-so cute!

Finally green apples are usually inexpensive and you

can eat them on Friday!

Spring Green

Come with me as we take a short tour of this

spring table.
Here's a long shot from the corner of the shop.
The vintage fringed table cloth has apples in the design.

A bird's eye view shows the treats that await.

"When I County My Blessings, I Count You Twice"

says the heart-shaped plate, which applies to all of you!

I always try to carry a few cutting boards.

I think they make great gifts.

We could all use a fresh board on our counter top.

Lots of winged creatures join our green table.

And a few herb towels.

Lettuce accent plates

And vintage hand embroidered tea towels.

Sunny Yellow

As I continue to transform the shop over from Christmas to spring, I turn to an old faithful transition, citrus. I think it is the sunny yellows that perk us up in dull drums of winter time.
Along with the fact that citrus (fresh) is in season.

These lemon napkin rings would perk up any table!

I really like the white with yellow for a clean, crisp color palette.

Spring's Fleeting Beauty

I think Spring and Fall are particular favorites because each of these seasons provide only a very short time span to enjoy God's gifts of nature.

After work tonight I went out in the yard to capture some of our blooming landscape before a predicted thunder storm this evening washed away the spring blooms till next year.

This azalea bush next to our house was ablaze with color.

I spied my neighbors tulips lined up like soldiers ready to burst open any day.

Here the dogwood blooms seem to be stretched open to enjoy the sunshine.

I originally thought this bush was a lilac, but now I'm not sure because the blooms do not appear to be similar and it does not have a scent.

I enjoy their lavender color in our side yard. It pops against the green grass and trees.

If you know what type of bush it is please let me know. All of these landscape plants were inherited from our homes previous owners and they are a few of my favorite things.

Spring Porch Tablescape

Today I join Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for another Tablescape Thursday.

Since it's been so warm here in the bluegrass, I decided to go ahead and set the porch table.

I picked blue and green to go with one of my favorite cake plates.

These white birdies were a good match since the cake plate centerpiece has bird houses on it.

Here's the base of the cake plate which features embossed lattice details.

This is the surprise you receive when you lift the cover of the cake plate. It is beautifully hand painted with flowers and butterflies.

Here you can see the birdhouses along with an adorable dragonfly!

Each birdhouse is raised in detail.

I can't remember where I purchased this cake plate. I've owned it for at least five years now and enjoy getting it out each Spring.

Here you can see the layering of the green ceramic dinner plate with the plaid blue and green salad plate. I used a blue and white checked towel for the place mat and blue and white linen napkins. The napkins feature hand painted blue borders.

I thought these porcelain bird napkin rings went well with the white accent birds.

But when I put them together I think they blend into the white napkins to much. Oh well, they are cute anyway!


As dusk approaches I lit the candles.

Porch in Process

I had intended to share with you today the porch made over for spring.

Here she is dormant for wintertime. We hardly ever go out there during the winter.

My pot stands lined up waiting for their ferns.

As you can see in the back of this photo, the trees stay down over winter to reduce the number of leaves I lose from windy days.

Here's our sitting area. She's a plain Jane right now!

Well I did not get to make her up for Spring because I had a car accident on my way to the store for last minute Easter things on Saturday. No one was hurt, thank goodness, just my pride. I was the last one in a string of cars slamming on their brakes on the interstate and tagged the guy in front of me in the rear. After waiting 2 hours and 45 minutes for the police to arrive and prepare their report, I was so frazzled I just came home and sat on the sofa. It's on my second accident and I've been driving for 24 years so I guess that's pretty good, but still ya know it's frustrating.
