Nell Hill's Dish Display

I was lucky enough to go on a recent vacation
with my husband to Kansas City.
He got to tour the Harley Davidson Plant
and I got to go shopping at Nell Hill's 2 stores!
I have broken down my pictures into
a few posts -this one is about dish displays.
For those of you that don't know Nell Hills is a home decor, interior design, entertaining store
that originated in Atchinson and now has a 2nd store in Kansas City.
It's wall to wall eye candy for the dish, textile, decor lover.
I thought it was so interesting how all of the dishes were
displayed in different cabinets, hutches and cupboards.
If you are a dish lover like me you are always looking
for ways to change up your china cabinet and shelves.
Each room seems to have a them of color or patter.
See below all the white and yellow theme.

 Most was decorated for Christmas
they had just hosted their holiday event the
weekend prior to our visit.
Love the green and white in the white
cabinet, which would look great anytime of year.
I also loved the white owl
peaking out from the top of the black
rounded hutch.

Next I will post more about the store and holiday decor,
then on Thursday some of the tabletops for Christmas!

White Rabbit Cottage

You may remember that over the Labor Day
weekend, Miss B and I went on a
Well that seems like a long time ago,
but I am finally getting around to sharing the
Atlanta portion of that trip.
We visited several shops in the Atlanta area
recommended by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
I knew they would all be fabulous, because
Susan has great taste.
The first was White Rabbit Cottage in Marietta GA.

I have used some of their holiday pictures from
their Facebook page here to
show you a tiny bit of their holiday selection.
All the non-holiday pictures were from my visit.
Grab a cup of tea and get ready for some shopping!

The store, which is actually 2 buildings,
is a delightful mix of furniture,
home goods and accessories.

Allow for plenty of time to shop
when visiting!

 Wonderful accents and pillows!

I got great ideas for accessory placement,
which is often hard to style.

Wonderful vignettes of what I would
call elegant country style.

 Things for the pet lover!

 Seasonal decor
(there was more autumn at that time
but I did not post most of those pictures)
Tons of dishes, napkins and table jewelry!

 White Rabbits (of course)
Lots of gift items, perfect for holiday or bridal
birthday or thank you presents.

The staff was friendly and helpful.
The store was such a delight to visit.

And finally a special greenhouse/conservatory
full of gardening accessories!
I hope you enjoyed the shopping ~please visit their store
if you are ever in the Atlanta area.
I will post more from our Atlanta visit soon.

Hoot Christmas Trends 2013

Hope you had a great Halloween!
We were sitting in the dark as
we lost power about 6:30 PM.
Now that we are in November
I am sure you have already noticed
plenty of Christmas already out in the stores.
Each year I try to do one new
project for the holidays
usually a special tree, or new decor item,
which blends in with all
of our favorites from years past.
I thought I would share a few of the trends
I'm seeing as I research what will
be my project for this year.
Natural elements have long been a staple around the holidays.
They are an economical way to decorate, especially if you have a bounty to draw
from in your backyard (or your neighbor's if they are generous).
This year the nature holiday theme
has focused on owls,
which have been trending all year
and other "woodsy" creatures
such as deer and squirells in
hot materials such as
mercury glass and natural fibers .
I'm sure you've seen these everywhere too,
these pictures are from Pottery Barn,
One Kings Lane and Pier 1, but
I've seen them at Horchow, Pier 1 and
World Market.
Will you be adding new elements to your
nature decor this year?
