Roosters and Roses

After Shelia's recent rooster party I decided to get out my

rooster plates and use them.

We're in the tv room off the kitchen at my house,

but I'm officially calling it the breakfast room because it sounds nicer, we already have a tv room and Barb says it's okay.I found these after Janice posted about them on her blog about a year ago.

I really had fun playing with the layers of red.

Roses on the napkin and the plates. . .

Inspired a $9.99 purchase of these beauties at Kroger.

In my usual expert floral arranging method,

I plunked them in the vase.

This vase was given to my by my Mom last year.

It was purchased at the Brown Forman store

when my sister worked at Brown Forman years and years ago.

They had a store, much like a nice commisary

where employees could shop at cost for the products

that Brown Forman made.
Yes, we all got a lot of Lenox -yipee!

Yes I wish we'd gotten tons more - but I was like 20 and so there you go.

Buttons detail the sides of the quilted placemat.

I layered red rose napkins with a taupe color and used

my oak leaf porcelain napkin rings for a hint of fall.

Can't wait for fall!

Here's a picture of the plate, which is red

transferware and our everyday dishes.

Mr. Rooster looks pretty good :)

But I think the roses may steal the show.

  15. I love red and white together! It's always so cheerful!!! Neat plates, and really cool placemats with that button detail. I know what you mean about being too young to fully appreciate the great deals you could have gotten on Lenox. Bummer, isn't it? I frittered away the opportunity to have some really cool stuff from my maternal great-grandmother and paternal grandmother. Makes me sick to think about it now! :-(
