Christmas at the Red Scooter

If you are all done with your shopping, baking and gift wrapping
why don't you stop by the Red Scooter today to visit their
Christmas decorations?

This vintage Santa collection is ready to greet you!
I also love this feather table top tree.

Every year the Scooter does a great job of hosting
a Gingerbread contest for the community.
Here are a few samples of this year's entries.
Awesome detail and all age categories
make this a great community event.

Next year I will have to dust off my
piping bag and join the fun!
Another wonderful display to add to your
delightful visit is the Christmas village.
Meticulously setup in loving detail
by Mrs. Donna Bulf
with thank her for sharing her collection!
Featured in the local paper

Donna has personalized many of the pieces
to reflect buildings in town.

Collecting for over 40 years, she has
definitely mastered the Christmas spirit
and we thank her for sharing it!

Even after the holidays when the kids
or the big kids need a holiday
activity a visit to the Red Scooter is a great day trip out
from the Louisville area.
Be sure to visit my booth when you stop by~

December Books

Thanks for stopping by!
Here are my December book selections:

In what may become a Christmas classic
Author Glen Beck writes the true meaning of Christmas
thru the telling of what Santa Claus really represents.
Or that's what I got from the reviews of Mr. Beck's latest
book "The Immortal Nicholas".
I thought it would be a good December read.

Next I selected "The Story of Alice"
by Robert Douglas-Fairhurst
after seeing it profiled on Sunday Morning on CBS.
Author Douglas-Fairhurst profiles the relationship
of Lewis Carroll, author of "Alice in Wonderland"
and the real life family friend Alice Liddell
whom the tale was originally told.
It is the 150th anniversary of the Alice in Wonderland book
and learning more about Carroll and
the meaning of Wonderland seemed both timely & interesting.

What's on your night table or book shelf this December?

Sweet Clover Barn December Sale

I think I first heard about
the Sweet Cover Vintage Barn Sales
at Lucketts a few years ago.
I have been wanting to visit there ever since.
They hold a sale once a month
on the third weekend of each month.
On a recent trip back from Washington DC
My husband & I stopped by
during the November sale.
It is a bit tricky to find, our car map
directed us to the parking lot
of a industrial park business!
Once we got out the old fashioned map
we went a bit further we found it.
They are holding their final sale for 2015
tomorrow thru Sunday 10-5.
Outside was setup with this great vignette
of white furniture & accessories.
Inside each booth was meticulously decorated
for Christmas.
I'm not going to comment on each photo, but
enjoy as we take a tour of just a few of the booths on
the first floor of the barn.

 Love the Blue & White!

A second close to blue & white
is my love for brown transferware.

There is a lot of furniture for sale if you are looking
for a special piece for
a holiday gift or yourself!
Keep in mind there is an entire 2nd floor
of goodness we did not visit!

Even if you are not in the Washington DC area,
I hope you can add it to your shopping list if you ever are visiting.
In addition I hope these great booths gave you
a few display ideas for your tabletop, vignettes or booth space!
As always I note the accessibility for those like me
that have limited mobility.
Ladies, it is a barn with a gravel parking lot.
Be prepared to park and walk, although we did
not have to park very far away, maybe 6 cars.
When leaving even more people were
arriving so the parking was getting further
away/and more limited.
I am not sure if there is a restroom onsite, but if not it would be
several miles to locate one from the way we came off the interstate
onto a state road and into the industrial park.
It was cool (my husband says cold) in the barn.
I am always hot so it was great for me,
but if you are temperature sensitive plan accordingly, again it's a barn.
Please visit their website for 2016 sale dates
if you can't make it this weekend!

Thanksgiving Table

Don't you just love a table with a story?
Today I'm sharing my Thanksgiving table from
several years ago.

It's quite a contrast from the Thanksgiving
Blue & White table I did this year.
I used this beautiful glittered turkey as the centerpiece.
Along with red roses in my Great Aunt Helen's
mint julep glasses.
Vintage blue glasses pulled the blue from the dishes.
But the dishes are the story of this table.
My husband surprised me that year
and bought an 8 piece set
from one of our favorite antique stores!
They are marked Heritage Hall and have scenes
of New Orleans on them.
They are not Thanksgiving in the traditional sense
but I love the brown and cream
with the muted other colors
and it speaks fall & Thanksgiving to me.
I look forward to using these on many
tables in the future.
Hope you are having a great day
and are ready for however you celebrate
the Thanksgiving holiday!

Thanksgiving China Cabinet

Thanks for joining me today!
Hope you are doing well.
As I mentioned in my Thanksgiving
I updated the china cabinet a little
and wanted to share it with you today.
This was a pretty simple
update one because I feel like
Christmas is breathing down my neck,
and two because I have been
struggling with my health
and have to conserve energy.
I found some faux pumpkins on Amazon
and added them in the tea cups & saucers
I boosted them up a little
with faux and mercury glass acorns.

Then I added these real pumpkins
from Fresh Market.
I like the pops of orange against
the blue and white.
Next I will pull out all the blue and white
and add my Spode Christmas collection
for the holidays.
I will be sure to share that with you later on this month.
